According to a recent survey by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS – I kid you not!) Abdominoplasty procedures on men have risen by 15% in the last year. The number is still small when compared with the number of women choosing to have surgery.

To be honest this has come as a bit of a shock to me, and I’m not sure why! It’s not like I don’t think men are as affected by low self esteem and confidence which is so often cited as the main reason for having cosmetic surgery. I also like a man who takes the time to looks after himself, so why the surprise?

Perhaps it’s just that these British men are showing a more sensitive side, embracing the ability to change and take control over aspects of themselves they’re not happy with. I think it marks a new trend and I applaud those setting it! Life is too short to be unhappy with yourself.
