Free Guide to Breast Augmentation Procedures
If you’re considering cosmetic surgery to enhance the natural shape of your breasts there are two main procedures to consider.
Two Main Procedures
Firstly we have an uplift procedure known as a mastopexy. Here the drooping breast is kept the same size but is reshaped to give a perter breast. Secondly, and most common is the breast enlargement procedure, where a silicone or saline implant is inserted into the breast. Both procedures would require the patient to undergo surgery and be anesthetised under general anaesthetic.
The procedures can significantly alter the appearance of the breast and there may be a minimal level of scarring depending on techniques used, though the recovery and healing time is generally longer for an enlargement when compared to an uplift.
What happens during the operations?
The patient would be placed under general anaesthetic and, in the case of the mastopexy, some excess skin and fatty tissue is removed and the areola (nipple) is relocated to a higher perter position. Therefore there are scars on the breast though they fade well over time. For the breast enlargement procedure, an incision would be made into which an implant can be inserted, that can be made on either the side or the bottom of the breast, depending on patient preference and what the surgeon deems suitable for the operation. The implants can also be placed further inside the patient’s breasts under various layers of muscle.
What’s the difference?
The size and shape of the breasts will of course be different post-surgery and both procedures generally aim to produce an aesthetically pleasing and perky, youthful appearance of the breast.
Whether you choose to go with a breast enlargement or a mastopexy is of course up to you. (larger and fuller breast) or a mastopexy (same volume but perter breast) is of course partly up to you and partly depends on your breast shape to start with. Different procedures will suit different body types and sometimes both are done at the same time. As with any cosmetic surgery procedure it’s vital that you speak with a qualified surgeon so you can receive the information you need to make the right decision for you.
