What You Need to Know About Breast Enlargement Scars

One of the biggest worries many women have about undergoing a breast enlargement procedure is how visible the surgery scars will be. As every woman’s body is completely unique, the visibility of the scars will vary from person to person. Other factors effecting the size and visibility of scars from breast implants will be the surgeon’s skill and also the quality of post-surgery care. To give yourself a good idea about potential scaring, check out some cosmetic surgery galleries which feature women with scars from breast implants so you can see the potential scaring which you could experience post surgery.

Scar Location

The location of the scars on the breast will also be unique to each patient and much of this depends on the type of breast surgery you will have. Scars for breast implants tend to be short and hidden in the breast crease. If you plan to have a breast lift for example then in many cases the nipple needs to be raised which can mean you can experience breast lift scars around the areola (the darker coloured skin around the nipple). Scars after breast reduction operations also tend to be around the areola and from the centre bottom of the areola down to the inframammary fold (where the breast meets the chest). It’s important to remember that every breast enlargement or reduction procedure is completely different and the scaring will depend on the individual having the work done so it’s vital to discuss your options and potential scaring with a plastic surgeon.

Skill Of Surgeon

The biggest influence on any potential scars from breast implants or scars after breast reduction is the experience and skill of the plastic surgeon. Before you choose a surgeon, make sure you ask to see detailed case studies of previous patients and also ask about the potential breast reduction or breast enlargement scars you may have. In many cases a skilled surgeon will be able to leave scars which will become barely visible over time.
